Did the real story take place in the winter? No, at least not all of it. After a seemingly endless barrage of comic book movie trailers, the coffee had cooled enough to enjoy as Alejandro G. Inarritus revenge drama began. The author Michael Punke incorporated some pretty raw scenes in this story that kept me engaged and on the edge of my seat. You write imaginative stories but when I go to read book three if you repeat the backstory more then once I am finished good story or not. May 12, Ed rated it liked it.
This was mildly entertaining. Pretty quick read. Dec 12, carla stout rated it it was amazing. Dead man killer I can can assure you this is a good book. The two in the series that I have read are great. Lots of action. Aug 07, Kristi Books and Needlepoint rated it it was amazing. Elena minervae vs revenant book opinion
They have come into possession of a mystical stone that Raven had learned about from her father. When used properly, it can reanimate a deceased person and that person becomes a slave to whomever is in control of the box that houses the stone. This person is a Revenant. They have chosen their victim and in grisly fashion, Mr. Leverone details how the stone works. In Reven Max Acton and his friend Raven, a young Navajo girl, have recently moved to town and rented a rundown house out in the woods.
In Revenant, we meet up again with Mike McMahon and Sharon Dupont, two of Paskagankee's finest, slowly recovering from the string of murders that had plagued their town the previous fall. They are "involved" and are trying to figure out how the town council is going to deal with their relationship since Mike, as Chief of Police, is Sharon's superior. Sharon decides that they need to be apart, as she would rather see him everyday at work, than have to move and take a job elsewhere and not see him at all.
Their new status is barely set when two calls come in and they are sent out to investigate. Sharon and Mike have no idea what is about to be let loosed on their town. I read Paskagankee in May of this year and absolutely loved it. So when I was offered the chance to read Revenant - the second book - I snapped it up. Allan Leverone did not disappoint. If you are a fan of horror - you must read this series. I judge a book by how it's written, whether or not the story line is plausible and consistent, and not necessarily whether I liked the story itself.
As an editor, I've read a lot of material that I didn't like over the last few decades. I hate zombies. They aren't a fun read, and they're so overdone in this century, it makes me ill. I do enjoy the paranormal when it's connected to something like the Native American spiritual tradition, but I hate zombies. I detest the word "shambling", and I don I judge a book by how it's written, whether or not the story line is plausible and consistent, and not necessarily whether I liked the story itself. I detest the word "shambling", and I don't care if the word has been around since the s. That doesn't make it any less distasteful.
That said, this second book of Allan Leverone's was my first of his to read. I loved the folklore, and I loved the conversations about Navajo heritage. The ensuing zombie tag made me ill. I found myself skimming through Manning's parts looking for good stuff. Manning, while certainly a believable character, was not interesting to me at all. But as I said, this is not my cuppa. It was well-written, mostly fascinating, and the characters were believable.
I enjoyed most of the book. In fairness to the author, I'm going to go back and pick up 1 and see how it relates. Leverone gets 4 stars for everything but my personal aversion to anything where a zombie becomes a primary character. This is the second book in The Paskagankee series. There are two things that are a MUST for me to enjoy a book. Right no This is the second book in The Paskagankee series. Right now, three days after finishing this book, I can picture the forests and back roads of this charming town.
I can smell cedar trees and the mouth-watering aromas coming from the diner.
Star ruler 2 revenant book
I feel as if I have known the characters — who appear simple at first, but grow so complex — all my life. Leverone has a way of pulling you into the story, the town, the horror. So, come to Paskagankee with me. Aug 10, Kirsty Bicknell rated it it was amazing Shelves: favorites , adult , paranormal , romance , tense. I started reading Revenant knowing to expect a paranormal read but nothing else. The story that unravels is both terrifying and compelling; yet the pace of Allan Leverone's writing, his attention to detail meant that I felt the moments of anticipation and fear along with the characters.
The characters in the story are strong and Allan L I started reading Revenant knowing to expect a paranormal read but nothing else. The characters in the story are strong and Allan Leverone ensures that the reader has enough background information to form a considered opinion about them, which is another reason to admire his writing. I like the fact that Leverone left questions unanswered and after reading the book you are still left thinking.
I was only slightly disappointed with the ending but from a reader and author's point of view I understand why it was there. I thank Allan Leverone for gifting this to me and look forward to reading the rest of his books. Excellent story telling! If you like supernatural tales, with zombies and curses Revenant is for you. It is the sequel to Paskagankee, which is also the name of the small town in Maine where this all takes place. Both stories are about murder in a small Maine town. The supernatural continues to create mayhem with the inhabitants, as forces are visited from the outside.
This far away, secluded corner of the world, is desired by those who want a place to hide away — thus the real tragedies begin when the outsiders bring with them supernatural elements. It is - Imaginative, well-paced and good character development. Lacked the originality of the first book. The author's writing style is still solid so I will definately read future books in the series. Hopefully the author's ability to create unique storylines will return in book 3. This one just feel flat for me.
I think I've just grown tired of any book that incorporates zombies because the market is flooded with them. While this book did provide a rather original twist on the 'undead', it wasn't original enough for me to love it as much as the first book. I did finish the book, due in large part to how well the author writes. I'm confident that his future works will be impressive. Aug 13, Vicki rated it really liked it. I recently reviewed another book by this author, Pansagankee, and knew right away that I wanted to read book 2.
Publication Order of Paskagnkee Books
And man oh man oh man, Revenant is just as awesome, and scary, as Pansagankee is! The book gives you insight into the Navajo Indian tribe and I found that info very interesting. It even had a little romance. All the characters are very believable and I loved that he brought some of the characters from Paskagankee into this book.

- ONLY TODAY!.
I went into this book with no expectations, aside from the fact that it was written about a small town in Maine, and that it was a paranormal thriller. I have to admit, I don't even think I read the synopsis when I downloaded this to my Kindle, as it came pretty highly recommended by a fellow avid reader. So now that I have finished this book, I can honestly say it was awesome, and I can't wait to read more from the Paskangankee series!! I enjoyed the first book in this series so much that I wondered how this one could compare.
I didn't need to worry.
